AWS Managed Services for Hassle-Free Cloud Operations

STREETPIN

Streetpin is a network of local social sites. The purpose was to create a local marketplace platform that collaborated with retailers, organisations and events in one area.

Challenge

To keep the system operating costs down without compromising performance and manage serverless structures. There was also an issue with slow pinboard searching due to a large amount of data available on the platform.

Solution

The system has been designed to run on a serverless architecture by using AWS services like lambda functions, S3 buckets, CloudFront, and Dynamo DB. Instead of going with EC2, we have used AWS Lambda as it is highly scalable and inexpensive compared to EC2.

GLOBALDRUM

Globaldrum is a mobile social platform enabling brands to monetise audiences. This business partners with brands to return ownership of the conversation and engage global audiences.

Challenge

To manage several types of audio and video file formats and their conversion. The app needed to have a graphical Sun-style background and use transparencies in five layers. The client needed a separate section to display the curated RSS feeds.

Solution

To overcome the issue of managing video files of different formats, we used the AWS Elastic Transcoder service for converting media to mp3 and .Flv formats. We created different communities and linked them with related RSS feeds.

ADELANTE

The Adelante Group is an executive coaching agency focused on providing mentorship and guidance to some of the largest Australian companies and governmental institutions.

Challenge

To befit the client’s requirement, the system was comprised of big files/templates and reports, which were getting created dynamically per user. Serverless structure to keep the system's operating costs down without compromising performance.

Solution

We have used AWS Lambda for serverless structure because it is less expensive. A web application accesses lambda functions using an API gateway. We used an S3 bucket for the storage of projects and reports like storing content, backing up, archiving, and storing data.

MYILM

It is a mobile video streaming application to facilitate users' access to videos in an easy and fast way. It offers free content and premium videos with a subscription

Challenge

It needed a Vimeo library implementation in the backend, and there was a need to manage the auto-renewal process of payment for different users/platforms. It is also required to convert video URLs into streaming URLs to reduce buffering and speed up processing.

Solution

We purchased the Vimeo Premium plan and implemented it for business needs. We used Red5Pro server functionality for managing video streams. We also managed all API services using an AWS server and a MySQL database for saving video content and user information.
